Building a More Sustainable Future: Inside the IPS 2026 Progress Report

3 Minute Read

At IPS, sustainability isn’t a standalone initiative – it’s built into how we operate, grow and deliver for our customers.

Our 2026 Sustainability Progress Report highlights the tangible progress we’re making across environmental performance, operational efficiency, and people development – reinforcing our commitment to responsible, long-term growth.

Delivering measurable progress

Over the past year, IPS has continued to turn ambition into action, delivering strong performance against key environmental targets:

  • 20% reduction in Scope 1 emissions, driven by targeted cuts in gas usage and behavioural improvements, including smarter and more efficient heating management across sites
  • 24% reduction in Scope 2 emissions, achieved by renewable energy investment, including solar PV installation
  • 55% reduction in electricity intensity ratio (kWh per pallet) since 2019, lowering both costs and environmental impact while strengthening operational performance

These results place us firmly ahead of trajectory towards our 2030 targets, supporting our ambition to achieve net zero by 2035.

Our approach is clear and structured – built around five core principles:
Measure, Disclose, Reduce, Balance and Improve – ensuring accountability and continuous progress across all sites.

Driving sustainable operations

From energy efficiency to waste reduction, IPS is embedding sustainability into day-to-day operations:

  • Transitioning towards a 100% EV or hybrid fleet by 2030
  • Working towards zero waste to landfill by 2028
  • Purchasing 100% renewable electricity across operations

Alongside this, continued investment in automation and digitalisation is improving accuracy, reducing waste and supporting smarter decision-making across the business.

Investing in our people

Sustainability at IPS goes beyond environmental impact – it’s also about building a strong, inclusive and future-ready workforce.

In 2025:

  • Over 6,000 training hours were delivered to support development and continuous improvement
  • 52% of the workforce represents mixed ethnic backgrounds, supporting diversity and innovation
  • 204 new colleagues joined IPS, strengthening our capability and supporting continued business growth
  • Strong employee retention, with average tenure exceeding 5 years, reflecting engagement and long-term commitment across the business

With a continued focus on wellbeing, safety, and inclusion, IPS is creating an environment where people can thrive and grow.
